The clubs of AFJROTC are held every month during the club period with the exception of rocketry, cyberpatriot, and academic bowl teams which are held after school when active. The clubs of AFJROTC are open to any AFJROTC cadet who is willing to be dedicated and attend every meeting/practice. The membership of Kitty Hawk Air Society is by invitation only. As it is an academic club, cadets must maintain a "B" average with no failures in any other class to maintain membership.
Kitty Hawk Air Society
The Kitty Hawk Air Society is the academic honor society of AFJROTC. Its purpose is to promote high academic standards and achievement, school and community service, self-confidence and initiative. KHAS also develops leadership abilities, recognizes academic excellence, and furthers members‘ knowledge of the Air Force role in aerospace. Kitty Hawk Air Society Badge is awarded to cadets who are members of the Kitty Hawk Air Society.
Awareness Presentation Team
Worthwhile voluntary activity consists of cadets that like to act and feel comfortable talking to elementary and middle school students about such social issues as drug, education, domestic violence, and staying in school. Our involvement in these social issue awareness and training brings our Corps favorable publicity and is a valuable social service to the community. Awareness Presentation Team Badge is awarded for participation on an Awareness Presentation Team.
Rocketry Club
Model rocketry is the designing, building, and flying of small rockets that are made of paper, plastic, balsa wood, or any other lightweight material. A model rocketry program provides an exciting introduction for cadets to gain the concepts of aerospace engineering and design and the basic concepts of flight and space. It motivate cadets to attain a greater knowledge of aerospace studies and arouse interest in aerospace careers. Rocketry Badge is awarded to cadets who have fulfilled model rocketry program requirements.
Cyber Patriot Team
Cyber Patriot is the National Youth Cyber Education Program. At the center of Cyber Patriot is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition. The competition puts teams of high school and middle school students in the position of newly hired IT professionals tasked with managing the network of a small company. In the rounds of competition, teams are given a set of virtual images that represent operating systems and are tasked with finding cyber security vulnerabilities within the images and hardening the system while maintaining critical services in a six hour period. Teams compete for the top placement within their state and region, and the top teams in the nation earn all-expenses paid trips to Washington, DC for the National Finals Competition where they can earn national recognition and scholarship money.
Academic Bowl Team
Selected members of this team will participate in Academic Competition against other JROTC units. Teams compete for the chance of competing in the Academic Championship held in Washington, DC (all expenses paid)!
RC Flying Club
To provide career opportunities in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Operations by utilizing the STEM subject areas, we strive to create an interest in this developing career field by providing basic concepts of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle operations. Our basic goal is to encourage students to consider pursuing STEM careers utilizing aviation skills acquired through this program.
